Gov’t urgently needs rapid test agents for seaports territory-wide

The BVI Health Services Authority (BVIHSA) has commenced what it described as an “urgent hiring drive” to assign nearly two dozen additional persons to its mobile testing facilities at the various seaports across the BVI.

The Authority said the drive supports the government’s push to “resume business as usual and reopen the territory’s seaports” at Jost Van Dyke, West End, Road Town, Virgin Gorda, and Anegada.

The BVIHSA, therefore, issued a vacancy notice to hire 20 project employees who will serve as Rapid Testing Agents at the various ports of entry.

“These agents will be responsible for collecting COVID-19 Testing samples. Such testing will include PCR and Antigen swabbing both oral and nasal. The organisation seeks applicants who are mature, flexible, computer literate, and able to troubleshoot; as well as function on varying administrative levels,” the Authority said.

It added: “At least a High School Diploma is required; and applicants should be at least 18 years old and fully vaccinated against the COVID 19 virus. Applicants should also have basic knowledge of healthcare operations, and be fully aware of current COVID-19 protocols and guidelines; and are expected to function in a team environment, as well as work well under pressure.”

The Authority said new recruits will be properly trained to effectively execute the duties and to ensure they are operating according to internationally recognised standards and guidelines.

The BVIHSA has received more than 45,000 test kits for use.
