Police have formally charged the senior government official who was arrested on suspicion of bribery on Monday.

He has been identified as 56-year-old Robert Swain, Sr of Sand Box Road, Road Town, Tortola.

He is being held until his appearance in the Magistrate’s Court this week.

“Swain’s arrest is as a result of an investigation into a contract issued by the Ministry of Transportation, Works and Utilities formerly the Ministry of Communications and Works,” police said in a media release on Tuesday.

“Investigations are ongoing in this matter therefore no other information can be released at this time,” police added.
