GPS tracking leads cops to accused phone thief

GPS tracking of a stolen cellular phone reportedly has led police to the suspected thief.

Information reaching BVI News are that police arrested an East End man on suspicion of burglary.

The entire incident began to unfold during a late night break-in on a vessel that was docked at Nanny Cay at the weekend, BVI News understands.

It is said the assailant boarded the vessel and made off with what sources described as a high-end smart device.

Further reports are that the owner of the device noticed the phone was missing the following morning. There were no visible signs of a break-in, BVI News understands.

It is said the owner used a GPS tracking application to ascertain the location of the device. The GPS alert pinned phone’s location on the eastern end of the island.

Police were subsequently summoned and the suspected burglar was apprehended and charged.

Sources said the accused man is a British Virgin Islands native.

Make an example out of them. Them too stupid and lazy. In 2018 it’s way more easier to be caught than it was before time. Especially if it’s online registered Apple product. I’m happy the person getting back their stuff and someone going to jail.

You are missing the point. This person came aboard the boat of a tourist. The expense is very high to visit the BVI like this. They took property that didn’t belong to them. Now, the word spreads, and no one wants to come to a country that is not safe and people steal. Idiots like this ruin the entire economy of the country. Wake up people!

    • CW says:

They don’t want to visit already. Rude customs officials and the look of a recent war zone makes for a poor holiday. Hey at least all the locals know how to band together and make the tourists feel welcome HAHAHAHAHA
