Greenland resident charged in connection to Sunday’s murder

One man has been apprehended in the fatal shooting incident that happened in Road Town Sunday morning.

Charged with murder, inflicting grievous bodily harm, and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life is 37-year-old Hasani Frett of Greenland.

“The deceased, who is still to be identified, along with a female received gunshot wounds at separate locations early Sunday morning. The female is being treated for a wound to the leg at the Dr D Orlando Smith Hospital. Detectives are asking persons who may know the identity of the male victim to come forward,” the police said in a media release this morning.

Sunday’s fatal shooting marks the second such murder in less than a week. Just days earlier, another man — 42-year-old Yan Edwards — was shot and killed while at a bar in Parham Town, East End.

“For the past week, officers have been making their rounds and conducting stop searches throughout the East End and Road Town Districts in light of the reports of gunfire and the recent murders. Close to 30 persons were searched and quantities of both marijuana and cocaine were recovered. Persons were reported for several traffic violations,” the police reported.

The RVIPF said it is seeking any information that could help with identifying the assailant or assailants in any of the recent murders.

Persons can contact the Crimestoppers tipline anonymously at 800-847-8477 or 284-800-8477. Alternatively, persons can contact 368-9345.

  1. Identity says:

Its really not a smart statement to ask the public to identify a face they have not seen. Obviously he didn’t have ID on him but find a way to send a pic out. How can we help identify who we haven’t seen

Welp! Immigration and customs going have to work harder because the police cannot do it all. No documents or ID…real bad vibes in this place.

They can’t be serious to ask the public to identify a possible hitman who probably sneak in to murder the person that was charged with now murdering him when we don’t even know who it is, wasn’t there, have no photo, etc.

Is there no one who can draw a sketch? There is a face, as long as it was not badly damaged, they can do a sketch of it. You all are always so negative and critical of others.

    Race ethnicity

At least, pretend that there is an attempt to identify.. Otherwise the conclusion is that hs identity is known to the authorities but hidden from the public
The identity of the still alive female victim could also give a hint or clue to hus identity.

  16. Possible Retaliation Hit that Went the Other Way says:

They need to check the cameras to see all who was there and question their involvement with the unidentified alleged hitman that was murdered and check cameras from Greenland to Town.

  17. Really says:

You going to post the face of a deceased body and ask the general public who he is! Clearly, they themselves do not know he was. They’re hoping a family member would come to claim a missing relative.

Exactly how do the mighty RVIPF expect members of the Public to help identify a person whose photo or description has not been released. Police think they smart, person go identify, they going get caught up in this death trap.

  20. Street Reporter #1 says:

Thank you for hassy. U are a hero. U took out the mask up hit man…How many lives you have saved. A man comes onto you aggressively mask up and you have your piece. You better use it, save your life and let the the jury decides your fate. A hit man mask up with a gun and a list. Hmn

  22. question says:

The bullets that hit the young lady in her leg,and the young man that died, came from the same gun.?

  23. Stupid is as stupid says (in the comments on this blog) says:

The article says that “The RVIPF said it is seeking any information that could help with identifying the assailant or assailants in any of the recent murders”.
The assailant or assailants are the persons who committed the offence – not the person who was attacked. The Police know who was attached, but won’t release the name of that person until his next of kin have been informed.
Many of the comments above seem to assume that an “assailant” is the person who has been attacked!!!

I wonder if the mask man had shot and killed the guy in custody if the police would have already made an arrest?

  29. @stop it says:

If that’s true, then it will not be the first nor last time that a bystander will be caught in these fools gun battle

  30. That's our Police Force says:

I am glad someone said, because i truly dont know they expect people to help identify without a photo of the person. Clean up his face and take a photo then share it with the public. Who knows someone might of been walking or working with a killer and never knew it.

  31. Judged by 12 any day says:

Protecting his life, i think he did a good job of that in my opinion.

Now he can be judged by 12 rather than carried by 6.

I taking judged by 12 any day all day all year!

  32. Webster says:

Did you ever wonder why a masked up gunman would have come after Frett? Of all the people in Tola, why him?
Is Frett’s weapon licensed? Does he own a business? Why does he need a weapon? Self defense how?

Some of us young people in Tola are terrible people. Young men and young women too. Up and down in drug runnings, human trafficking, building big houses without going to the bank, flashing all kinds of expensive jewelry bought from the proceeds of drug and blood money.
Some, if not all of them know about these murders that are happening and also have information on murders that arr still unsolved from years gone by.
This dude Frett is no saint. Police need to check he and he close friends (a close female friend of his who call herself family). It’s people like dem have Tola in the state it’s in.

  33. Junie says:

A lot of comments are about the accused person about to be robbed, but where did we read that in any of the articles? Others are alluding to it being self defense. If that’s the case then why didn’t the alleged killer turn himself in straight away?
    Is his hun licensed?

The police have a lot of investigating to do, I hope they get things right.

  34. Oh says:

Oh so you were there? Go tell what you know instead of blogging on the news. I d k why the police doesn’t ever be up in these comments.

A man in mask they say. Well to me that ain’t sound right plus as of this year no one was reported to be missing from BVI. So who is this person is my question? What is he doing here?

  40. Hmm says:

I ain’t saying the right to kill someone but it’s not adding up, we need more questions than answers right now. How can a person just appear from nowhere and landed in the BVI. Is he an illegal immigrant here? Where did he come from?

  41. @Island girl says:

I laugh!! Little do you know Mr. Frett was born in the beautiful island of St. Kitts but was grown up here within the Beautiful British Virgin Islands. But we wont go there with you about not an island man bc we acknowledge him as a Proud BVI Youngster.
