High at school | Teens arrested for cannabis
Two teenage boys were arrested after school officials reportedly discovered suspected cannabis and other paraphernalia in their possession at a high school on Tortola last week.
BVI News understands the students – aged 17 and 16 – were detained after the police were summoned to the school compound.
According to information obtained by our news centre, the matter came to the attention of school officials after another student reported that the boys were seen with cannabis in a bathroom at the educational facility. A teacher reportedly investigated and found the two male students inside the restroom, with the cannabis and other items in their possession.
A further search of their belongings uncovered a grinder, tobacco, rolling papers and a few other items. The police reportedly seized the items for further investigation. It’s understood that both teenagers denied knowledge of the cannabis when questioned in the presence of their parents and school officials. They were then arrested. It is unclear whether they were formally charged or whether officials will instead issue warnings and take other corrective measures.
The latest incident comes amid growing concern about drug use among young people in the Virgin Islands. In recent months, there have been a few reports of students being found with suspected cannabis and related paraphernalia at secondary schools across the territory.
This has prompted renewed calls for greater parental involvement, drug awareness education and stronger intervention programmes targeting teenagers.

hold on guys lets wait for the comments that like to come say “nothing wrong with kids using weed and edibles , they can do no harm” keep up that energy when those same kids start doing harder drugs or get streamlined into the fast life of partying,drinking,smoking,gangs,drugs etc…

As a responsible adult and a parent of two, I will never condone children investing edibles and smoking marijuana. My hope is Fentanyl never find it way to these shores. Research Fentanyl and see what it can do.
Smoking is a choice..peer pressure is not, some children know who they have at home to deal with and they never make those mistakes however some parents are delinquent themselves and thus the latter.
