Hooded gunmen rob Sea Cow’s Bay businesses

Not any of the assailants mentioned in the story

Police have launched a probe into two robberies that happened in the Sea Cow’s Bay area of Tortola on Friday night.

Reports from the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) are that two armed hooded men successively robbed two adjoining businesses — De La Santa’s Bakery & Restaurant and Charles Grill & Bar.

It is reported that around minutes to 9 o’clock on the night in question, robbers first entered the bakery and stole money from the business’ cash register.

The RVIPF said the hooded men then made their way to the Charles Grill & Bar located behind the bakery. They reportedly held two patrons at gunpoint.

“The assailants both fled the scene with cash and jewellery taken from the two patrons, a cash pan from the bar, and the cashier’s handbag. No one was injured in the incident,” the police stated.

“Police recovered the contents from the cashier’s handbag along with one black firearm magazine containing ammunition,” the RVIPF further reported.

Police said the assailants were likely outside the establishments for some time before committing the robberies.

Law enforcers are therefore asking anyone who may have noticed any suspicious behaviour to contact the RVIPF Intelligence Unit at 284-369-9339.
