Hope and Sabbath Hill to undergo rehabilitation, slope stabilization | Project open for tender

Yet another project road rehabilitation project is being rolled out and is now open for tender to local contractors.

The Recovery & Development Agency (RDA) said in a recent tender notice that bids are invited for the Hope Hill to Sabbath Hill slope stabilization and road rehabilitation project.

The project will be funded through the Caribbean Development Bank’s $65 million loan for hurricane recovery.

Scope of works

According to the document, the scope of work includes general site clearance and disposal, demolition of the existing sections of asphalt, and reinforcement of the concrete pavement.

It also involves the construction of four reinforced concrete retaining walls, the insertion and compaction of a 200mm-thick sub base to the proposed road alignment, and the placement of 130 metres of 150mm-thick concrete with a 50mm-thick asphalt overlay.

The construction of a reinforced concrete kerb and slipper drains, box drains, walls, guard rails will also form part of the works.

“Eligible bidders will be required to submit full qualification information with their bids establishing their eligibility to bid and qualification to perform the contract if the bid is accepted,” the document said.

It added: “Tender and qualification information is to be submitted in the English Language on the prescribed forms inserted in the Bid Documents. Submissions that do not provide the information required, or do not demonstrate the prospective contractor’s ability to perform satisfactorily, will not qualify and will not be considered for further evaluation.” 

Qualification 

Among the requirements for the project, bidders must have at least five years experience with construction contracts in the role of contractor, subcontractor, or a management contractor.

Bidders must also have the financial capacity of an average annual turnover of at least $770,000 within the last three years and can demonstrate cash flow including access to credit of $290,000.

The RDA said there will be a pre-bid site visit meeting on June 2 at the RDA’s lobby situated on the first floor of Ritter House on Wickham’s Cay II.

The deadline for submission is at 10 am on June 30.

    Well look at this! BVINews has an whole story on this and yet some contractors will say they don’t know about this opportunity and will ask where was it advertised.

    They need to stop wait for phone calls and read the news. Then when the same two contractors are awarded this contract they going cry wolf. Can’t please these people.

    Sabbath hills have water tanks yet the people in the district can’t get running water. Is laying water pipes and supply of running part of the scope of works? Water supply needed up here.

      Behave , they will wait till its finished then dig it up and then do a half assed job on the backfill leaving the road in a worse state then when it started

    Please can the Government fix the road from Windy Hill to Sage Mountain…that’s been like that for years…I thought after the retaining wall was put in…we would get the road paved to deal with the broken asphalt …please fix that next. Thanks

      Yes whiles it’s a great opportunity for contractors,
      Look at the requirements that is needed, so many of the contractors can’t meet that requirement, although they could do the work just as go or better than the handful that have that financial backing.

    6 People in that picture, only one doing any work , that is the problem and why the road works are so shoddy,people picking up a wage and not wanting to do the work
