House of Assembly members to get salary increase
Members of the House of Assembly are also expected to see a bump in their salaries; in line with the salary increases that public officers are set to receive after the government wraps its compensation review exercise.
Much has been said about the need for salary increases among government workers, but not much has been said about the salary increases for politicians — a topic which many people are against discussing.
According to published documents which show Cabinet decisions made in December 2023, the Cabinet discussed the “Final Compensation Review Report” which included information about the percent increase of salaries for the House of Assembly members.
The information that Cabinet received also showed comparative data from countries and narrative around the cost of living in the other Overseas Territories that were used to help reviewers to arrive at the increases for the House of Assembly members.
The published document of Cabinet decisions also said the consultative phase for the government’s compensation review exercise has been completed and the report will soon be tabled in the House of Assembly.
The report will provide a summary of the consultations held with ministries and departments to present and describe the new salary structure and the outcomes of the project.

Members of HOA should be darm shame to accept salary increases when they know the people are struggling to get the same. They the HOA Members are not being highly productive in catering to the needs of the Territory. Every member that approved and accept this increase is more greedy and selfish and proving that they are only there to fulfill their greedy and personal desires.
To Do what? At present all they do is go on unwarranted trips, include other officials on the trips that no longer have anything to do with the portfolios, ensure they get their rentals included when they have layovers etc. And all at the expense of the tax payers while stressing out the staff in these offices. Ready for competent leadership that actually earn their pay.
In addition to the above, yall took so long to secure salaries and increments for government employees, but you’re quick to ensure that your salaries are bumped in the process. Smh
Not all staff members are stressed out, there are some (not qualified or experienced) purported to be enjoying the benefits.
You know what would happen to all 13 of them if they were employed in the private sector!

Look at this now… we need saving from our own elected representatives. To me the people have NO representation in HOA because all of them in there wutless alike. Once something in it for all of them it’s a done deal. England need to hurry up and get rid of these man for a little while.

The million dollar question is whether the elected officials are receiving the same level of allowances with this Salary increase . The elected officials have bemoaned the fact that they were receiving the huge allowances because their base salary was too low. Now that their salaries are being adjusted, we’d like to know about their allowances. If they retained their allowances and increased their salary, those guys and gals will be living comfortably. Their pension will automatically imcrease as well when they retire. What is the process for increasing elected officials salaries?
While all those who like to go down Government House to stave off the UK, there are some who will be Marching to the HOA to rid ourselves of them Thieves and Drug Lords. They got Guts to bring in one of their MamaCitas praying and screaming about Plagues coming? I only hope that she is getting paid from His own Pocket and not our Tax Dollars or all Hell will broke loose. These Crooks will not do right by the people until the UK take over, They are asking for it.
For almost all of them this is just a side job. they all have businesses taking up most of their time but they think they should be rewarded handsomely for this part time job.
So they’re willing to consider cost of living and the salaries of those in other overseas territories when it comes to raising their own wages. BUT they are unwilling to do that when it comes to minimum wage?!? THIS GOVERNMENT IS DISGUSTING.
