Hurricane Warning lifted for BVI, Dorian has passed

The hurricane warning on the British Virgin Islands has been lifted.

Governor Augustus Jaspert officially lifted the warning 8 pm on Wednesday, August 28.

“[Hurricane] Dorian’s centre is now about 60 miles north-northeast of San Juan, Puerto Rico. What lingers of Hurricane Dorian is expected to result in sporadic heavy showers and thus a flash flood warning is still in effect for low-lying and flood-prone areas of the Virgin Islands until 2:00 a.m. tomorrow morning,” the governor said in a post-hurricane update.

Works have now started to restore water and power to the territory.
