I supported BVI’s development, despite opposition
US Virgin Islands Governor Albert Bryan Jr says his administration has consistently supported the BVI’s efforts to strengthen its air access, even when others argued that the USVI should not help its neighbour secure more direct flights.
Bryan made the comments while discussing the relationship between the neighbouring territories amid ongoing tensions over BVI fees and restrictions affecting USVI-based charter vessels.
“This administration, while others were saying we shouldn’t support the BVI getting their own flights, we have been the number-one supporter of the British Virgin Islands getting their own flights,” Bryan said. The governor argued that his administration has always held that expanded air access in the BVI does not necessarily hurt the USVI. Instead, he suggested that direct BVI flights free up seats for passengers whose final destination is the USVI.
Bryan also said USVI arrivals have continued to increase despite the BVI securing more direct flights, describing that as evidence that cooperation benefits the tourism product of both countries. He also revealed a long-term vision to reinstall a dock at the Cyril E. King Airport. The facility could allow passengers to travel by ferry from the BVI directly to the airport, clear the necessary formalities and connect with their flights.
In the meantime, Bryan warned against allowing the charter fees disagreement to escalate into retaliatory measures that could increase the cost of food in the BVI or make travelling between the territories more difficult.
At the same time, he praised the BVI’s success in developing its charter industry. “They have done an excellent job with their charter boat industry, and we want a copy too,” he said.
He also acknowledged that the uniqueness of the BVI’s sailing offerings, as well as environmental regulations, limited sailing grounds and opposition to extensive marina development, make it difficult for the USVI to replicate the BVI’s charter industry on the same scale.

Go to hell gov Byran
But what nonsense is he talking about, helping the BVI secure direct flights?
The taxi men at the Cyril King Airport are crying saying that with direct flights to the BVI, Stt taxi men are hurting from the drop in Business.
Brian the BVI is the top in financial services and yachting. Stop having those foreign business people down there have you like you on a string; this is 2026; slavery abolished.
The British Virgin Islands is a UK overseas territory why do you think that you can set our prices on anything in the BVI or go to Washington with the idea that they can control the BVI decision. If you don’t like the charter boat licensing of the BVI do your charters in the USVI end of story USVI Governor Albert Bryan Jr.
Why do we have to share our citizens and customers with the BVIs then?
Sluxxin Albert is obviously running on fumes after all the Epstein Files debacle and trying to mitigate the fallout for his acquiescing to Jeffrey’s whims!
Just give it a rest dude! You have that guy over St. John lobbying you HARD to get the charter boats back in the USVI! We already looking into the chefs and crew who don’t have work permits, companies that don’t pay taxes for plying OUR waters and all and sundry that have cannibalized our Blue Economy!
Up next: fisherfolk that exploit our waters….
