It’s Advance Polling Day!

Today is Advance Polling Day and signals the beginning of the voting process that will help decide the 13 legislators who will sit in the next House of Assembly.

Advance Polling Day is for a select group of persons eligibly for early voting ahead of the general elections scheduled for this coming Monday, April 24.

Persons able to vote today include persons 65 years and older, differently abled persons, and a relative or friend accompanying an elderly or differentially abled person who requires assistance to cast their ballot. The relative or friend can only assist one person and must also be a registered voter within the same electoral district as the person that they are assisting.

Another group of persons eligible to vote today include election officers, police officers, persons with confirmed travel plans outside of the territory on Polling Day, persons on remand, candidates who have been successfully nominated on nomination day, medical doctors, nurses, emergency medical technicians, prison officers, registered social care providers (recognised by the Ministry of Health), and persons whose work schedule would prohibit them from voting on Polling Day. This latter group whould have had to complete and submit application Form No. 30 by April 13, requesting permission to be treated as an early voter.

Things to know

Things for early voters to know are that each voter will be given a single ballot paper that will contain the names of the 17 Territorial At-Large candidates as well as the candidates in the district they are registered.

Each voter is able to vote for ONE district candidate and FOUR At-Large candidates. This means each voter is entitled to vote for no more than five candidates.

A ballot is still valid if a person under-votes (votes for fewer than five persons). However, the office of the Supervisor of Elections said a ballot becomes invalid when a person over-votes (votes for more than five persons).

Instructions on how to vote will be on each ballot paper and will come in the form of words and illustrations.

The mission is now as clear as ever and it is to ensure that the VIP does not have even the slightest chance of forming or influencing the shape of the next administration. People, it is time to put the country first and it means an outright rejection of the VIP. Look back at the last four years and what has transpired. Look at the state of the country. Look at the characters who are still around and still influential – the former Premier, the virago from the yellow site, and joining the cast of irreputables, the candidate from the 8th convicted of theft from Government – as confirmed by the Privy Council on appeal – when he was the Financial Secretary. Simply extraordinary. Count your missing pension dollars from the SSB and find them in a ‘farmer’ or ‘fisherman’s’ new ride or new clothes or new furniture. The 688 and the extraordinary and potentially destabilising recall of the House casting a shadow on the elections. The VIP have learned nothing from our experience with the COI and either do not care or disrespectfully, think the voters are stupid. It is time for change and it is time for country. They continue to lie and undermine the integrity of our innate ability to self-govern and pose a real risk of triggering UK direct rule. It is time for BVI. And there are no innocents. The ‘new’ people have intentionally joined a band of bandits, why? What have they said to us that justifies or explains this? Nothing. Where is their denouncement of the wrongs? They are no better. Vote in a way that rejects the VIP. Vote against them in your districts. Vote at large for people who in your heart of hearts you feel can win. For those of you who pray and believe, ask for God’s guidance for every voter to sift with discernment through the confusion of the million at large candidates and vote for people who will squeeze out the VIP. This is serious and as public enemy number one, the VIP must be defeated. It is time for country. ✊?BVI!✊?BVI!✊?BVI!

I would really like to see more push for women’s rights especially in the workplace because too many women are being sexually harassed and mistreated. And the sad thing is,when they speak out, they are victimized.

  5. Public Enemy #1??? says:

These are lies by omission. The VIP is not public enemy #1: ANY politician who participated in crimes against the people or stood by and did nothing while crimes were committed and our money was abused is an enemy of the people.
    We need a coalition government!

Once I shade the circle is it a valid ballot?

  7. Question? says:

Once I shade the circle is it a valid ballot?

  8. Ughh! says:

The circle is really too small on those ballots though. I expect a lot of people to go outside the line. I would not be surprised if there were a lot of spoiled ballots. Whose idea was it to make them so small?

  9. @Question says:

The ballet will be valid if you shaded inside the oval 1 distict candidate and at least 4 at large candidates.

  10. Eagle says:

Those ovals are too tiny. They needed to be bigger for most of the seniors.

    Thank you.

  12. Tiny tat tat says:

Yes very small. Good thing I took care of my senior today. What happen with a “x”

  13. Wait? says:

You have to shade all of it, or just shade the circle? I am confused Monday right round the corner.
