Jealous teen charged with assault after attacking schoolmate
BVI News understands that a male student from Elmore Stoutt High School (ESHS) was arrested last week and charged with assault after allegedly attacking and injuring one of his peers during school hours.
The alleged attacker’s age is unknown, but sources say he became enraged after seeing another 18-year-old male student talking with a female student believed to be his ex-girlfriend.
According to reports, the teen began punching his schoolmate, sparking a physical altercation in full view of other members of the school community. Several punches were exchanged, and onlookers had to intervene to break up the fight. The victim reportedly sustained minor cuts, though it’s unclear whether the attacker or the female student were injured.
It is also unclear whether any weapons were used during the incident. School administrators reportedly summoned the police, who arrived quickly on the scene. The accused teen is said to have admitted to the assault and reportedly told authorities that he believed the victim was responsible for the breakup of his previous relationship.
He was reportedly charged with assault, although it is not yet clear if any additional charges were filed. It also remains uncertain whether disciplinary action was taken by the school or if the student will face court proceedings.
The incident comes amid a wave of student misconduct across the territory. Education Minister Sharie deCastro recently disclosed that more than 85 suspensions were issued in just the first two months of this year. She said her Ministry has since launched several interventions aimed at addressing the troubling trend of extreme misbehaviour among secondary school students in the Virgin Islands.

I graduated at 17 and never failed a year they never though of 18+ students being amongst 11 and 12 year olds. Sad country
It’s that way because of extra year they ad to the school..some kid are lucky to graduate 15-16base on there birth date but some 17 but since the extra year some will graduate 17-18
An 18 year old is still in Secondary School aka Elmo Stout High School? What form or grade is he in? Where ever he is on the specrum it is quite clear that education is not his priority or he would not be asualting fellow students unprovoked. There should be alternative training for these students at this level. Army, Airforce, Navy or Outward or Upward Bound Programs. Either of these will instill Discipline, Morals, Ethics and Guiding Principles which will improve behaviour and acceptance of society’s norms. We will have young men and women who will be assets in society instead of menaces in our various communities. Make developing our young people a priority.
I would have loved your comment had it not been for the first question. I am not in any way condoning the actions of the teen, but I know MANY children who graduated 18 in my day and MANY who are graduating 18 in recent times and have matriculated to colleges, locally and abroad and are doing just fine, even if they have entered the workforce with no college education. How many of our older leaders/politicians went to high school? And I am not knocking them bc they went as far as they could back then.
Further that is the normal age for children in the US to graduate, so stop knocking all 18 year old children for the actions of a few. Instead focus on which one of these teens you can mentor and guide out of their current mindset. Be a protege for the youths.

That young man rode his bike inside of the school compound pass the security at the gate (clearly without school clothes on) , and engage in an physical altercation with the student attending school.
This happened to me too and I didn’t swing a finger. I mean this is the same play by play action and mines was a toss so his must be a dime plus nine!
