John Samuel appointed Director of Virgin Islands Shipping Registry
Former Acting Interim Managing Director of the BVI Ports Authority, John Samuel has been appointed the new Director of Shipping at the Virgin Islands Shipping Registry (VISR).
He has been appointed on a one-year contract, BVI News understands.
Samuel — who was a Virgin Islands Party candidate in the February 2019 General Elections — officially commenced his duties in the new role on Wednesday, July 1.
Prior to Samuel’s appointment, Captain Raman Bala served as Acting Director of VISR for several years.
Samuel, who has years of expertise in advanced marine navigation, was not available for comment up to publication time.

Is this guy still being rewarded?
Try go take a Seat. John is more than qualified for this job. Premier don’t mind the noise. Keep pushing ahead for we the people.
Alvera done push him out of his vip spot so he has to find other moves to make
Eagle eye stop talking bull nonsense. Alvera won her d** seat. What part of that you do not overstand?
Congrats. Couldn’t have happened to a nicer person
This is what I like about our Premier he believes in his people of the Virgin Islands.
@Snoppy: you being sarcastic, right? Do you know anybody who works by the college?
Good job Premier
Can any of these high paying job these party members being awarded with can prove value for money. He worked their before … Shipping Registry always was a Department that salaries are more than what money the Department produce and the staff do next ro nothing work.
Beautiful selection
Mr. Vantapool was qualified enough for the job.
Mr. Vanterpool still qualified for the job
He lacks st——-y and is not an effective c———r. Not very —– attributes to have as a leader.
Great choice ! He will be WAY better than the present one.
Wasn’t he in this position already… so he was reappointed…BVI is really not in a good place right now!
Yes it is
While we are ahead, why not put total
And champy to head a department
@Simple, They are qualified to head the Ports (BVIPA).
oh please, all y’all who aren’t mentally educated about the maritime industry need to shut it! John was director of shipping before and by far a better candidate than *** they have there on contract. Y’all better be glad a that a maritime educated local got the job …
I hope he cleans house quickly. Went in to register a boat and was told to use an agent for $750.00 to fill out the paperwork because they were too busy to want walk-in traffic. When that didn’t work, instead of handing me a complete set of forms with instructions they gave them to me two at a time so I had six or seven trips back to that office. I can register boats on line in three other registries for much less cost and aggravation but prefer to support where I Belong. There needs to be an online system for local registry vs Blue Book, where they just charge you every year and you never have to see them, as happens in St. Thomas
Since John left in there went down hill. Glad to know he’s back
yup that’s what c*** wants after he done cash out and hand out licences
Why that office look like they still in Irma times??!
That is where he belong. But it is the same old nonesense, just a small group getting appointed to everything. I bet any money that B**** will be appointed, Chairman of Trade Commission, Gambling Commission and Alcohol Commission as well as the Weed Commission. If not him one of the group members. A Government of the People should actually pick the people and not just friends.
