Judge me after four years, Premier says

Premier Dr Natalio Wheatley

Residents should allow the government to complete its manifesto promises over its entire term before deciding on a passing grade.

Premier Dr Natalio Wheatley told lawmakers that his government has four years to complete its task and said he should be judged at the end of that period.

Dr Wheatley pointed to the long list of issues plaguing the territory, including water issues and poor infrastructure and said they were all inherited.

He argued that many of these issues were made worse by hurricanes Irma and Maria nearly seven years ago and compounded by the global pandemic.

“The reality is before the end of this term, I would like to see a lot of those problems solved and that’s my job,” Premier Wheatly said.

“By the time the election comes — whether it’s 2027 or et cetera, I’ve pledged that there are a number of problems in the same manifesto… quite a number of those manifesto items will be completed,” he added. “And of course, we don’t have one year to do things on the manifesto. We have four years. So I’ll be asked to be judged on progress on it at the conclusion of the four years.”

The government has been under pressure to fix long-standing issues such as poor road infrastructure, water shortages, frequent power outages and social issues.

Territorial At-Large Representative Stacy “Buddha” Mather said residents are crying out to lawmakers about being forced to choose between their family, food, rent and car.

“Drive from Beef Island down to West End by the ferry terminal. Bragadam, bragadam, bragadam, bragadam, bragadam, front end gone. Destroyed,” Mather said.

In the meantime, Premier Wheatley said he remains optimistic and would not preach a doom and gloom message about the BVI.

He urged residents to embrace the government’s vision and pledged to work harder at communicating and articulating this to the people.

No Sir. Just like how the rest of us in the real working world are evaluated at least once a year, you are no different. Frankly, your performance was assessed during the previous administration and frankly, from then you have not been doing a good job. You put too much energy into talking fluff and making excuses instead of addressing the many issues in this country.

We judge you on an ongoing basis. But you don’t care about whatever we say.

    – you haven’t criticised your corrupt team members (Covid grants)
    – you haven’t listened to our criticism over your parties
    – you still travel too expensively with little to show for it.
    – you haven’t distanced yourself from head coach.

I’m surprised that after his comments on God working through thin that he hasn’t said: “only god can judge me” like a true gangster.

THE DAMN WORST PREMIER THIS TERRITORY HAS SEEN. DUDE YOU ARE WORSE THAN YOUR OLD BOSS WHO IS SITTING IN MAIMI WAITING TO BE SENTENCED. I SAID WHAT I HAD TO SAY AND IF YOU AND OTHERS DONT LIKE WHAT I SAID, GO CHEW ON SOME WILD TAMARIND BUSH.

Listen WO WO, you have already been judged by the masses. You are in no way qualified or experienced to run a Territory. Save yourself further embarrassment and step down. Keep telling y’all the Territory needs a FEMALE LEADER.

    • Correct says:

The Territory needs a female leader and a female Governor. Time to switch things up for the betterment of the Territory.

He only has 47 days in this fake leader office left in his life. By 1st June the UK Governor will be large and in charge. The Premier will be indicted for breach of trust and get in line with Myron and all the other corrupt crony politicians in the VIP for their bench trials before a UK judge.

Hopefully King Charles will live long enough for justice to prevail in the overseas territory of the Virgin Islands.

  20. What!? says:

VIP get in 2019 and we in 2024. He was deputy premier and now he’s premier. what going to happen so in just two more years that didn’t happen in the 5-6 he been in politics already? Something tell he not even winning the next internal vote for chairman.

  21. Lb says:
