Kitt Hodge

A Fort Hill man was fined a total of $950 for having cannabis and behaving disorderly at a police station two years ago.

Magistrate Shawn Innocent ordered Kitt Hodge to pay a $750 fine for possession of 4.3 grams of cannabis.

He has one month to pay the fine or, in default, he will spend 30 days at her Majesty’s Prison in Balsam Ghut.

The additional $200 was for the ‘disorderly conduct in a police station’ charge. He also has a month to pay that fine or serve 30 days in prison.

The aforementioned default sentences on the fines are to run concurrently.

Meanwhile, Hodge was also ordered to attend counselling for drug and alcohol abuse.

The offender was fined after going to trial and being found guilty.

What happened

The court heard that on the day in question, police found Hodge carrying four dime bags of drugs in his back pants pocket.

When the drugs were found, Hodge told the police: “It’s weed, I just bought it, I didn’t know you would have searched me.”

When asked in court whether he had anything to say about his the disorderly conduct offence, he responded: “They (police officers) just throw you in there (the prison cell). Your Honour, a Christian can go in there and will come out a sinner.”

Hodge was unrepresented.

Mehn Kit even though you keeping to yourself and holding down a job after turning over a page in your book of life; the cops will still harass you as you’ve got a record and are stereo-typed/profiled/targeted.

It’s easy to lose your cool when they lock you up but relax and as you know you’ll be out in hours. Pay your fine and becareful when you’re doing your thing. Keep your head up and live positively/respectfully- the rest will come easy.
