L-shaped building at ESHS being renamed after veteran educator
The Government of the Virgin Islands will be honouring veteran educator Lillian Adorothy Turnbull by renaming the L-shaped building at the Elmore Stoutt High School in her honour.
“Ms Turnbull’s contribution to the development of education for the past 50 years will be recognised when the government officially re-opens the building under the theme ‘Let There Be Light … Elmore Stoutt High School Shining Bright’,” a government-commissioned release said.
The handing over ceremony for the facility is scheduled for today September 6 at the school’s grounds in Road Town.
The refurbishment of the school will also mean an end to the two-year shift-system for students of that facility.
Giving thanks
Meanwhile, the ceremony will also serve as a service of thanksgiving in observance of the two-year anniversary of Hurricane Irma.
The category-five hurricane was the worse to affect the territory in recent history and caused billions of dollars in worth of damage and loss of life.
“Numerous public schools were damaged during the passage of the hurricanes in 2017, which resulted in changes being made to the public schools’ operations … Designs for remaining damaged schools will continue as the ministry seeks to provide the best learning environment for students across the territory, “it added.
Notably, the completion of the school is in keeping with a promise made by Premier Andrew Fahie that the building would be completed for the re-opening of the new school year.

I wonder where Fahie haters are now. Two years our children were ignored and in 6 months in office this was made a priority by the new government and it was done. Kudos to them
You clearly don’t understand how detailed construction work is and the processes that you must go through before you pound a nail. A significant amount of work had to be put into this project over time for it to be executed. Whoever the government was would have excuted quickly because all the preliminary work was done already.
Why are we soo easily fooled in the BVI? No wonder politicians can feed us sh** and tell us it’s pudding.

PLEASE!!!! You don’t be silly. Let us say that you are correct that so much work was done before Fahie took office, then the question will be why then wasn’t the project done before? Fahie did what was needed and he and his government must be commended.

1. the kids gets back to full schedule at school. ndp didn’t accomplish such.
2. the price to me is worth it. cause work was being done day n night n started if im not mistaken done so with weeks to play
