Representative of the Third Electoral District Julian Fraser is not pleased that Government has not yet provided roads in the Nibbs Estate area of his constituency.

“People have lots and there are no roads to get to the lots. They waited to get to the titles for the lots; now they are waiting to get the access to the lots,” he said.

Fraser noted that it appears Government, unlike in the past, is reluctant to provide people with amenities on properties acquired from Government.

“When I came into elected office in 1999 there was a standing policy. If you purchased Crown land on one of those residential developments [from the Ministry of Natural Resources], the Ministry of Natural Resources would provide for the estate the road network, the utilities, and if there is a need for retaining walls they will do that too.”

“I am not saying we are in a position to do all of that today. But certainly, the situation at the Nibbs Estate should be rectified; we should be in a position to do that; that is bare minimum,” Fraser further said recently in the territory’s legislature.
