Leonard has wound; VISAR helped getting him to hospital

Police are trying to ascertain how the late James Leonard ended up with a wound to the back of the head.

The Cooper Island resident was pronounced dead at Peebles Hospital last evening, May 17.

The cause of death is yet to be confirmed.

The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force is yet to make a public statement on the case.

President of the Virgin Islands Search and Rescue (VISAR) Gerard Kraakman commented on his team’s involvement in the operation, saying it assisted in getting Leonard to Peebles Hospital.

He stated that VISAR received a call minutes after 4pm and went to render assistance.

When it reached the scene, some divers were already there.

VISAR then performed Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on Leonard.

“Our crew was on scene; started CPR; and we continued CPR all the way to the hospital. We then handed him (Leonard) over to the doctor.”
