Local contractor inks near-$50K gov’t deal to restore North Sound Community Centre

Government has awarded a local contractor an almost $50,000 contract to restore the North Sound Community Centre on Virgin Gorda.

A media release from the Ministry of Social Development said project contractor Victor Creque inked the $44,486.62 deal on September 23.

The project is now scheduled to commence on September 30 and is expected to be completed by December 31, 2019.

Works expected to be carried out on the community centre include restoring the community centre’s exterior windows and doors, kitchen cupboards, as well as its interior lighting and wall fixtures.

The project will also see the installation of outside lighting, interior and exterior painting, and cleaning of the facility’s cistern.

The North Sound Community Centre had suffered damage during hurricanes Irma and Maria back in September 2017. It was used as an emergency shelter at the time and was one of several structures impacted by the category five disasters.

It’s nice to see that VG is being looked after good and proper …..but 50K to VG’s CC???
While the other islands and by other islands specifically JVD is left unnoticed by the Government…..ALL THE TIME.
No Roads, No PROPER SCHOOL BUILDING…..I could go in but those are the 2 priorities.
Tourists and local businesses try to help but the same government who refuse to do anything for that same island is the same government who tries to make it hard for tourist who love the islands to hell in rebuilding for the community.

Now as I said…..happy to see VG is being looked after….and it’s okay if the government doesn’t see fit for the kids to have a better environment to learn but since 50k could be given for a CC and none is left to help build a small school….then stop making it hard for outsiders to DO what they can for the kids…..and talking about onebvi…..you mean part of bvi!!!!

  9. Under bid says:

That figure is too low for all that work.
