Longstanding water woes in Windy Hill, Coppermine now being fixed

The longstanding water woes currently being faced by residents of Coppermine and Windy Hill on Virgin Gorda is now being addressed.

This is according to Ninth District Representative Vincent Wheatley, who said the issue is projected to be remedied by this coming weekend.

“For as long as I recall, there has always been a water pressure issue in the Coppermine area. This has been going on for about 15, 20 years. When I asked about the problem, they told me that the problem and the reason why there was an issue in the Coppermine and the Windy Hill area is that there needs to be a pump installed at the bottom of the hill,” Wheatley stated on Monday, July 13.

He further explained that “for some reason”, authorities had been experiencing great difficulty in sourcing the pump needed to address the issue.

However, they finally procured one, Wheatley said.

“It is being installed as we speak. It (the water trouble in the aforementioned areas) should be a thing of the past by the weekend,” the District Representative said.

He added: “Once the pump is installed and in operation, it should solve the water pressure and water supply problem. So it is a significant thing for people who live there because Coppermine is on the far end of the island and at a higher elevation to the supply tank.”

I can feel your joy and wish I could enjoy that same feeling. If you live in Sea Cows Bay in the higher elevations there is no water for you. Sometimes you may get some air but surely no water. That same pump solution has been promised over and over but nothing has been installed. We continue to be treated like third world countries.
