Looters sentenced

‘Any person committing crimes will be prosecuted’ – Jaspert

Persons are now being prosecuted and punished for looting business establishments after Hurricane Irma.

Governor Augustus Jaspert made the announcement today, September 26.

“I’m pleased to report that a number of looters have been prosecuted and sentenced and I am grateful for the excellent work of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force,” he said.

He did not indicate how many offenders have been sentenced so far.

The Governor, who has responsibility over the territory’s constabulary, said he is taking a no-nonsense approach towards lawbreakers.

“Let me be clear that any person committing crimes will be prosecuted and face the full force of the law.”
