A man has been charged with attempted murder following a stabbing incident in Fat Hog’s Bay, Tortola last Tuesday, July 9.
Charged is 25-year-old Callique Collins of Greenland.
Police said in a media release that detectives charged the accused man on Monday, July 15.
According to police, Collins stabbed 21-year-old Paraquita Bay resident Dillon Quammie during a physical altercation at an establishment known as The Spanish Bar.
“Quammie was transported to the Dr D Orlando Smith Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery for a stab wound to his abdomen and was later placed in the Intensive Care Unit,” police said in their release on Monday.
“Commissioner of Police Michael Matthews stated that allegations concerning acts of mindless violence can expect to be dealt with by the full force of the law,” the release further said while noting that investigations in the matter are ongoing.
Police, in the meantime, are warning that “any persons who allegedly arm themselves with any form of weapon to commit an offence only place themselves and others at risk and will face the consequences of their actions through the laws of the territory”.
