Man arrested for slashing girlfriend’s tires
BVI News understands that a 38-year-old Grenadian was recently arrested and charged after assaulting his girlfriend and damaging her vehicle tyres.
It is understood that the man was living at his girlfriend’s residence for some time. They allegedly broke up in late December but the woman reportedly gave the suspect time to find a new place of residence.
It’s understood that an altercation ensued after the alleged victim asked him when he would be leaving her place of residence. Our sources say that during the altercation, the suspect hit the woman in the face and broke her cellphone.
He then went outside and slashed her car tyres, it is alleged. It is unclear whether the woman sustained any other serious injury or whether she was hospitalised. Our news centre was also told that the woman’s child was present during the altercation but it’s unclear whether they were hurt.
Since 2023, our news centre has been receiving reports of numerous domestic violence incidents across the territory, which usually end in women and children being physically and emotionally abused.
In many cases, the victims of domestic violence had to seek medical attention, while the police apprehend and charge the perpetrators.
