Man charged in Virgin Gorda shooting granted $100K bail
A 51-year-old man charged in connection to a shooting incident on Virgin Gorda on Sunday, May 17, has been granted bail.
The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) said Khemoe Foy of Georges North Side was arrested and formally charged with possession of a firearm with intent to commit an indictable offence and unlawful possession of explosives.
According to the police, Foy was granted $100,000 bail and is scheduled to return to the Magistrate’s Court on July 2, 2026.
In a press release issued on Wednesday, May 20, the RVIPF said investigations into the matter remain ongoing.
Police had previously confirmed that the shooting incident happened shortly after midnight on Virgin Gorda. Preliminary investigations indicated that multiple shots were discharged at a residential property. However, no injuries were reported.
“One male suspect is currently in police custody,” the earlier police statement noted.
The RVIPF said detectives continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident and advised that further updates would be provided when necessary.
The latest charges come amid continued concerns about firearm-related incidents in the territory. In recent years, the BVI has recorded several shootings and gun-related investigations, prompting repeated assurances from law enforcement officials that efforts to curb violent crime remain ongoing.
Authorities continue to urge members of the public to cooperate with police investigations by sharing information linked to firearm offences and suspicious activity.
