Man reportedly killed in West End shooting
Information reaching BVI News indicates that a man was fatally shot on Saturday afternoon in a reported shooting incident on the western end of Tortola.
The victim is believed to be an individual previously linked to criminal activity in the territory, although his identity has not been officially confirmed.
Following the incident, graphic images of a bloodied male body have been circulating on social media. However, as of publication time, police had not confirmed the fatality but did confirm that a shooting had occurred.
“Officers are currently on scene. More information will be provided as it becomes available,” the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) said in a brief media bulletin.
In the meantime, police have announced that the road at the entrance to Zion Hill, near Big Ben’s gas station, has been temporarily closed.
Motorists are advised to avoid the coastal road to and from West End and to use alternate routes until further notice.
