Pedestrian struck down in Road Town

This vehicle reportedly struck a pedestrian in Road Town this evening, August 2.

A male pedestrian has been taken to Peebles Hospital after he was struck down shortly before 8 o’ clock this evening, August 2.

The middle-age man was walking on the pedestrian crossing in the vicinity of the Road Town fire station when the incident happened.

He fell on the pedestrian crossing, but was eventually whisked away in an ambulance.

The vehicle involved is a blue pickup registered PN 435.

The female driver, who appeared to be in shock, strolled about the scene in silence for some time.

She, along with other persons, have given statements to members of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force.

Persons claiming to be eyewitnesses said she was not speeding.

They however lamented the poor lighting in the area. “Imagine a fire station is right here and there is no light,” one woman said.

The pedestrian crossing is hardly visible because the paint has faded significantly.
