Man succumbs to injuries sustained in utility pole incident on Tortola

Not the worker in question.

A man injured during an accident involving a utility pole yesterday, November 17, has died.

The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force’s (RVIPF) Information Unit gave that indication while responding to questions from our news centre Friday morning, November 18.

“Police can confirm that this morning a man succumbed to injuries sustained in an incident near a utility pole in Paraquita Bay yesterday,” the RVIPF told BVI News.

“Details surrounding the incident are unclear at this time, therefore, no further information can be released,” it added.

The police have not yet disclosed the man’s identity.

Meanwhile, unconfirmed reports to our news centre is that the deceased is a utility worker who fell from the pole while conducting duties at the Paraquita Bay work site.

My friend, the prayer intercessors are here praying morning, noon and night. But the reality is the four winds of strife are slowly blowing on the earth. This is a sign of such. The thief cometh not but to kill, to steal and to destroy, but the Son of Man said he came to bring life and to bring it more abundantly. John 10:10. You are correct that there is too much pain, grief and sorrow in this nation and the earth. But the day of Jacob’s trouble is fast approaching and it will be a time of trouble never seen on the earth. Please get ready people and repent of your sins. Wait for it!!

  6. OSHA/IOSH says:

Condolences to the family of the deceased. What I find distressing especially by these telecomms companies is the lack of adequate H&S for filed workers. This accident/incident was totally avoidable IF proper safety measures were in place. Where was his harness? Where were the other workers steadying the ladder while he worked at height? So many questions so little answers will be revealed. Sorry to say; the family should sue the company for inadequate compliance with IOSH practices. So very sad ?

  7. Guess What? says:

@UK Own, Why the mention of Prayer warriors here? Where did you get your Theology from that once prayer warriors are deployed in a nation, there would be no accident? I beleive investigations are ongoing to determine the immediate and remote cause of this unfortunate accident. Spiritualizing every fatal accident is a recipe for disaster. Sometimes there are human errors leading to breaking natural laws and not spiritual laws. From such, lessons are learnt and precautions are taken to prevent re-occurence. It wont require Prayer warriors dearly beloved.

If your”safety belts”is hook properly, it’s hard to fall off that ladder, unless the ladder itself fall with you. That’s my opinion.

  10. King says:

My condolences to the family. The man was knocked down from his ladder by a vehicle. People who claim they are drivers should be more responsible when approaching workers on ladders on the utility poles.

  11. Just saying says:

My condolences, but I believe the guy had a blackout

  12. EYES says:

very sad…my deepest sympathyfor the family on their lost.
To the Telecommunications operators, please stop sending your workers up on poles on ladders, or climbing on spikes. There are enough bucket trucks on the island that can be utilized, they’re alot safer.

  13. @ king says:

If this the case, needs a thorough investigation.

  14. @ King says:

Please stop spreading false news. There is CCTV footage from a nearby business in circulation on social media and the gentleman was NOT knocked down from his ladder by a vehicle. I don’t understand why people like you are h**l bent on creating confusion with such unfounded claims!

  15. Nice says:

Since the cct shows all of this why isn’t anyone been charge as yet.
