The vessel named Mayflower that toppled next to the ferry dock in Road Town has been removed.

It was removed before 10 o’clock Saturday morning, March 31.

Workmen used a large crane to remove the vessel.

Mayflower has been resting at the dock since Hurricane Irma smashed into the territory nearly seven months ago.

It is said the vessel was partly why the Road Town ferry terminal has not yet reopened.

Remedial work and new developments are also being undertaken to the terminal.

It is not clear when the said terminal will reopen but indications point to an April date.

    • Que? says:

Yes! I see where it is, just laying in the shallow water outside Smith’s dock. Don’t worry, it will stay there until the next storm and wash up again somewhere on the shores of Road Town..
Just the same as they all Smith’s boats did in Irma – did they make any effort to secure any of their boats before the storm? The things some people get away with in our country is amazing!

  4. Hmmm says:

Will we be paying to remove all the other sunken boats/ships in Road Towm too? The people’s pockets will soon burst.

  5. Sam the man says:

It’s concerning it takes us 7 months just to remove a vessel like this and takes us just as long to construct a temporary structure at West End – what is wrong? Are we bankrupt or just inept at doing anything swiftly – the BVI’s recovery lags way way behind the other Islands/countries impacted by Irma so let’s hope they sort out whatever is holding us back v soon the next hurricane season is just round the corner in a few months…..

  6. Concern says:

The people want to know who paid to remove this boat. Cleary it was insured – so I hope the Smith family paid for it removal.
