Midnight curfew extends to July 30

The current ’12 am to 5 am’ curfew has been extended for yet another two weeks.

This is according to the latest curfew order published in the gazette — government’s official newsletter — on Thursday, July 16.

It stated: “For the purposes of controlling, suppressing or preventing the spread of COVID-19 and for the protection of all persons within the territory, a curfew is hereby imposed from the date this order comes into force until Thursday 30th July, 2020, between the hours of 12 midnight to 5 am daily.”

Under the order, all approved beaches and businesses are permitted to open and operate during the hours of 5:01 am to 11:59 pm daily.

Private vessels and ferries

As for watercraft operating in the BVI, private vessels are permitted to move within the territorial waters between the hours of 5:01 am to 7 pm daily.

They are, however, required to operate within the navigational limits, “east of 64.38300’W on the south side of Tortola and an area east of the dividing line between the westernmost tip of Jost Van Dyke and the westernmost tip of Tortola”.

This area will be further confined by navigational limits to the north, east and south, the curfew order further read.

“From the date this order comes into force until Thursday 30th July 2020 ferries shall be permitted to move within the Territorial waters between the hours of 5:01 am to 12 midnight daily,” it added.
