Ministry wants residents to take better care of QEII Park
The government is urging residents and visitors to take greater responsibility for protecting the Queen Elizabeth II Park, reminding the public that the popular recreational space must be used in accordance with established rules to safeguard its grounds, facilities and wildlife.
In a statement issued yesterday, July 16, the Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources and Climate Change said the park is a shared community space that depends on the cooperation of all users to remain clean, safe and well-maintained.
The ministry reminded the public that vehicles are not permitted to park on the facility’s lawn areas, permission must be obtained before major events are held there, ropes must not be tied to gazebo roofs for exercise activities, and feeding feral fowls is prohibited because it contributes to an increase in the rat population and other public health concerns.
Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources and Climate Change, Dr Ronald Berkeley, appealed to residents to play their part in preserving one of the territory’s best-known public spaces.
“The Queen Elizabeth II Park is a place where families gather, friends meet, and people of all ages find joy in nature and recreation. Each of us plays an important role in keeping the park clean and beautiful. When we take care of this space, we not only protect the environment and uphold community pride, but we also ensure that our children and grandchildren will be able to enjoy the Queen Elizabeth II Park for years to come. Together, we can make our community safer, healthier, and more welcoming for residents and visitors alike,” Berkeley said.
The ministry also encouraged members of the public to report any unauthorised or improper use of the park by contacting the Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources and Climate Change. It thanked the community for its cooperation in helping preserve the facility for present and future generations.
According to the ministry, protecting public spaces such as the Queen Elizabeth II Park forms part of its broader responsibility to promote sound stewardship of the territory’s natural resources through environmental management policies and sustainable best practices.

Thats is not QEII Park , thats the other side of it that was cleared, the QEII park has the childrens play area in it, and that is it, and we wonder why the territory is in such a mess when the officals and media dn’t even know the name of a park…
Residents want the Government to take care of the park through planned maintentance and procedures.

Government still hasn’t repaired basic structures in park since Irma and they think they can boss around residents?
I was there a week or two ago and a vehicle was parked all the way in. I was so annoyed. Maybe the Ministry needs to put measures in place to prevent vehicles driving in because if you leave it up to John Public they are going to ignore the request not to drive in.
Be proactive Ministry.
They need to stop walking their dogs in that Park as well. Some dogs aren’t leashed and at times they run unto the grass and drop a load or two which their owner refuse to clean up. Now, thats nasty.
Agree bc young children play in that park. No dogs should be allowed as dog owners here do not pick up after their dogs. They just plain nasty.
As usual the Ministry pays no attention to the park. Persons take advantage of the free public water and walk away with gallons whenever they want to.
We were quite happy to see the grass maintained on a regular basis but things are now back to the rats running you over. What to do other than pray for this place for persons are still going to vote unwisely.
