Minor accused of stealing thousands

Police have arrested and charged a minor from the Slaney area in relation to the alleged theft of cheques and cash amounting to thousands of dollars from a building operated by Virgin Traders at Nanny Cay, Tortola, BVI News Online has confirmed.

The young man, who has been offered police bail, will appear before the court in September on a charge of theft.

The incident has been brought to the attention of the Social Development Department.

The minor was arrested after members of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force launched a probe into reports that someone had broken into the building owned by Virgin Traders.

It is said that the operators of the establishment had left it closed. When they returned to the location, they eventually noticed signs of forced entry as well as the fact that the money was missing.
