The Office of the Supervisor of Elections has indicated that there was a notable increase in the number of advanced polling voters in the 2019 General Elections.

A total of 1,120 persons voted across nine polling stations in the nine electoral districts when advanced polling was held on Thursday, February 21.

A total of 138 persons voted in the First District, 82 in the Second, 152 in the Third District, 124 in the Fourth, 122 in Fifth, 120 in the Sixth District, 96 in the Seventh District, 148 in the Eighth, and 136 in the Ninth.

“This is an increase of 232 votes from the last election where a total of 886 ballots were cast,” a government media release from the Office of the Supervisor of Elections said.

The advanced polling was held for the elderly, persons who are illiterate or those who required assistance to cast their votes.

Advanced polling also accommodated persons on remand at Her Majesty’s Prison, those travelling on February 25 (Election Day) as well as election and police officers who are assigned to work on Election Day.

  3. Something wrong! says:

The supervisor of elections need to tell us how is it a candidate can be sitting inside a polling station ALL day. How is it she did not broadcast that far and wide that candidates can sit inside ALL DAY, talk and interact with voters, openly in view of election workers be on their cell phones, and even flash material to voters on how to vote?

If I lie, ask about the happenings in D1

We are waiting elections office… not fair, and free of infractions at all

The governor needed to stop the election due to leakage. We don’t need machines. Not to be trusted!

  5. outsider says:

There are people in D1 that are not VIP, so all 138 did not go to that party. Trust me!!

  6. Political Observer (PO) says:

Protect and secure the advanced votes casted. There must be a strict and controlled chain of custody of the ballot boxes and voting equipment. There are already rumors flying about who received what in the advancing polling. True, this might be just idle and malicious chatter. Nonetheless, make it a mission to protect the integrity of the vote and the voting process. At the end of the day, the worst that should be said is that the election and process was fair and not tainted.
