Mould shutters BVITB’s Road Town office

Not any of the actual mould mentioned in the article.

Evidence of mould at the BVI Tourist Board’s Road Town office has caused it to close temporarily and has further resulted in its staff of about 20 persons operating remotely.

A notice from the Tourist Board advised the public that the office would be closed from Tuesday, January 24 until further notice.

The notice further said the public can collect cheques, certificates, and other documents at the Tourist Board’s Waterfront location at the Road Town Ferry Terminal.

According to a ZBVI News report, workers had complained of not feeling well and a test carried out on the premises indicated that mould exist in some areas.

BVI News understands that the Tourist Board is in the process of cleaning the premises and determining the cause.

  3. Typical BVITB day says:

Each person drives their Gov. vehicle into Road Town in the morning, blocks a few cars in a car park by 10am, has a morning snack and latte’, walks/drives around town shopping and doing errands, takes a long lunch at a restaurant with 3-5 co-workers, more shopping and errands in the afternoon then drives home.

Why do these 20 persons on Tortola need an office??

This is horrible! The owner knows very well his place has mould. Why didn’t he take care of his building after the hurricanes? Things that make you go hmmmm……political cronyism at its best.

Why is Tourist Board doing the cleaning and spending money? This is for the Landlord to do, it’s his property and he is getting rent.

    Let’s see:

Needs the following although it may not be the exact name of the posts.

    1. Director
    2. Deputy Deputy Director
    3. Financial Comptroller
    4. Accountant
    5. HR Manager
    6. Marketing Manager
    7. Film Commissioner

  9. @ Typical BVITB day says:

Looks like you need work from always spreading propaganda.

You must be affiliated with that former bitter employee or a stalker peeping out an adjacent window from doing the work your employer’s paying you to do.

A regular Government office has over 20 employees. A class room averages 30 students. BVITB is no different.

  10. Fact says:

The Tourust Board owns ONLY 1 vehicle

  11. Lodger says:

    To @ lodger. YES. Maybe,
. But what do they DO?

  12. Really? says:

Now it makes perfect sense. If Mr.Fla* can’t get his building in order then I expect no better of the airport. Earlier this year I was flying out and it started to rain. It was a shame to see the janitors scrambling for huge garbage bins and buckets to catch the water dripping from the roof( what ever happen to BVI PRIDE??). I was told F was in charge . So I am not surprised….

  13. Politics says:

Some just can’t survive without playing politics. Employ husband and wife and rent their moldy premises, this is just disgraceful. Do you realize that they are robbing us the people, this money is coming from the public purse. I am absolutely abhorred by this!

  14. Facts says:

Lots of mold in the BVI right now is from Irma. Lots of landlord never treat their walls after repairing after Irma. This leave lots of tenant with mold in their apartments, no one is helping them either they stay in the mold or look for another apartment. As for the government side when those workers were home doing nothing and getting paid after Irma and during covid they should have been asked to report to work 15 to 20 hours per week to clean up their work place. Just to clean up and finish off back log work.

  15. Too many managers says:

That is too many managers so no wonder they do eff all. For a crappy non business org thry need fewer people who do more. Too many titles doing too little.

  16. Fact says:

K From was 8ne of A****w crony. Wife on board for light. A bunch of crooks. God don’t sleep. He was collecting rent and to was not in the building. Ash him how A****w waive 40k in property tax so he could get lease SHAMEFULLY CO**UPT

  17. Typical says:

You’re being really unfair. You’re forgetting that the tourist staff has to have coffee from 11 to 12 so when they get back they have to be retrained all over again. Same thing after lunch. It ain’t easy out there.

  18. Anonymous says:

Why would you expect a landlord to clean?
I’d hate my landlord to clean for me.

  19. @Anonymous says:

landlords do not have to cleaned.. when they repaired their buildings after they never put any treatment in their paints. if the mold was there before they painted it will remain there. It will have mold no matter if the tenants keep cleaning it. so dont say its the tenant responsibility to clean the mold its the landlord’s own should have treat the mold before painting.

  20. question and suggestion says:
