PRESS RELEASE: This week is being observed as Teachers Appreciation Week and Nagico Insurances BVI showed its gratitude and love for teachers of Ciboney Centre for Excellence on Virgin Gorda with a timely donation of office furniture and equipment.

The official hand over was done on Monday, October 1 to Principal Laura Fox by Customer Service Officer of the Nagico office on Virgin Gorda, Ms Susanna Ophelia.

The items included a large office desk, three chairs, a printer and a number of legal pads portfolios.

“We here at Ciboney School of Excellence are thrilled to be the recipient of such a generous donation from Nagico Insurances,” said Principal Fox.

“As you know in difficult times post-Irma we have been trying to acquire furniture that we lost during the storm and gaining this furniture enables us to have a principal’s office that is functional and sufficient for our use at this time.”

Ciboney Centre for Excellence, formerly St Mary’s, recently moved into two new buildings in Handsome Bay funded entirely from private donations. Their original location was destroyed by Hurricane Irma in September 2017 and classes were held in the Catholic Community Centre and another building in Olde Yard Village.

Ms Ophelia noted that when Nagico heard the school was in need of the furniture and other equipment it was thrilled to make available the items.

“We are aware of the struggles of the school following Irma and we at Nagico are glad to be of support. We are happy too that this donation coincided with Teachers Week and Teacher Appreciation Day, which will be observed on Friday,” Ms Ophelia said.
