The NDP team presented 11 candidates on Saturday. They presented no contenders for the First and Second district seats.

Until the NDP returns our $7.2 mil I don’t think any of these guys or their family members should be allowed to represent us.

Look, our roads are broken they couldn’t fix them and they didn’t even have a plan to fo do.

Our electricity doesn’t work half the time and now the former manager of that wants us to vote for him?

Our schools are broken and the head of that problem now wants to be the leader of this party.

Should not a party supposedly on a strong 8 year run be fielding a slate of candidates-13? Should candidates not be sprinting to run with the NDP? Is the NDP yielding the D-1 and D-2 seats to the encumbents? Should not all parties have a 13 seat(9 district, 4 at large) strategy if they are serious? What is the NDP reason(s) for not rolling out a slate? Is it that there are too many highly qualified/competitive applicants for D-1 and D-2, making hard to choose? If so shouldn’t the NDP have made the tough decision and choose a candidate? Is not making tough decisions a core governing tasks, ie, there will never be enough money to meet needs all at once?

We will be fools to reward the NDP once again. We cannot reward failure and expect success. No sane person can honestly say that the last 8 years were successful or showed any promise of moving in the right direction and I would challenge anyone to justify why the NDP deserves another chance. The NDP have not addressed or admitted their failures they are simply hoping that we forgive and forget. Some of the biggest failures and wasters of public funds are still members of this “new” NDP only because of their popularity and you expect us to think that this team will lead us to the promised land.

Mi arm, ayu lawd, ah wah, garçon, mey son —-me confused. The NDP government is in power and Dr. Hon Pickering is the current D-7 rep and Deputy Premier and has not indicated he is not running yet Diego Penn is on the NDP ticket as the D-7 candidate. He is part of NDP government but not part of the NDP. I’m no math wiz but I’m having difficulty squaring this circle. WTF! Perhaps, the NDP needs to take a hiatus, a respite to fix itself. What a royal mess! These are the worst of times for the BVI and it does not need all this confusion; it needs a steady hand to captain the ship thru the ground sea and shoals. NDP fix yourself as the late Fix It would quipped.

Nonetheless, if Dr. Hon Kedric “Frenchie” Pickering has not retired from active politics, who is he rolling with? Is he rolling wid PVIM, PUP, RAA, UP or rolling as an independent hoping to be the king or queen maker? I could be wrong but there only a few hopefuls on the NDP ticket. Here is a news flash and a piece of free advice for political hopefuls. You have to be civil and amicable all the time, not just at election time. Too many of you live in the community but are not part of the community. Talent, education, social status, employment…..etc are not enough to get you over the finish line. Further, the gift for gab also is not enough. The days of buying votes wid some rum is long gone. You got to bring substance; this applies to all parties. The NDP roll out its ticket, albeit not a full ticket, so Election is around the corner. This uncertainty is why date certain for election is needed. The next government needs to make this happen.

@Hmmm, they are waiting for at least 2, if not more, from the side u are apparently supporting. Doesn’t the formation and presence of the RDA shed a clue as to who might be heading to Ballo? that we the Taxpayers, for the first time ever are paying over $300,000 to one man who isn’t elected by us, but yet responsible for spending the moneys that we are borrowing that our children will have to pay? Doesn’t that give u a clue as to what’s happening?. Meanwhile u r insinuating that Fahie is corrupt, when in fact he has been practically single handedly preaching about the Corruption and the need for us to “Police ourselves or be policed by others in ways we wouldn’t like”.
It amazes, saddens and thrashes my hope seeing how we were able gather ourselves together in the thousands to march against the very Country that is now bailing us out of the horrendous situation we are in, knowing exactly how and who got us there, and instead of marching against them, here supporting and calling for the renewal of their Leadership contract.
