No-confidence vote was a demonic instrument — Health Minister
Health Minister Vincent Wheatley has labelled the recent motion of no confidence in the House of Assembly a “demonic instrument”, arguing it served only to divide the territory at a time when unity was needed.
Speaking during Thursday’s sitting, Wheatley said the vote, which failed in the House with seven members opposed and two in favour, risked undermining the territory’s progress and distracting from urgent priorities.
Drawing a biblical reference, Wheatley said the concept of a no-confidence vote resembled rebellion in heaven. “The very first vote of confidence recorded by man is in the Bible, when Satan thought he could do better than God. He brought a vote of no-confidence into heaven,” he asserted. He described it as a “demonic instrument”.
“ In a time like this, we have an Order in Council over our heads. We should come together and unite and show strength and togetherness,” he urged. “You want to come create confusion in the minds of the people. We should be united now in solidarity, not here trying to pick off each other.”
“This idea of a vote of no-confidence it creates division. It creates doubt in us and our people,” Wheatley added. He argued that instead of focusing on conflict, the House should be debating the territory’s future. “We should be educating our people so they could understand the need for independence,” he explained.
The motion, filed by the Opposition, was intended to challenge the leadership of Premier Dr Natalio Wheatley. It came months after the Premier steered the territory through a turbulent period that included a Commission of Inquiry and threats of partial UK intervention.
Wheatley commended the Premier for guiding the BVI during those challenges.
“That man down there (Premier Wheatley) navigated us through a very troubling, one of the most challenging times in our history. That’s why we could sit here today,” he said.
He also urged residents to reject fear and embrace the conversation about self-determination. “You gotta stop being cowards and afraid of our own shadows and do what we’re supposed to do,” Wheatley argued.
As the territory marked its 71st Emancipation Festival, Wheatley linked the debate to the BVI’s long-term aspirations. “We should be trying right now having a dialogue of where we should be 200 years after the emancipation of slavery,” he said.

Stuuuups.
You can demonstrate your allegiance to the VIP ticket without the performative rhetoric .I only hope the this Premier who has show signs of being disloyal in the past even ; to you- will defend you as strongly. He has grow in his leadership competencies and understand that loyalty is a key component of those competencies but under pressure he might revert back to his old ways.BTW I believe that the No confidence was merely political showmanship and had no real chance of passing .Be careful with your words , as I warned you before just about all the press here see you as an easy target and regularly misconstrue your words and actions even when you are doing something for the good of the people.
Demonic is the bringing a convicted criminal to perform for people out of tax payers dollars. Demonic is the constant partying by the leader and neglecting the country. Demonic is siding with the leader when you know he’s not doing a good job. Demonic is not taking care of the poor and elderly. Demonic is showing up at every party as a leader and that’s your focus. Demonic is turning a blind eye to the cries of the people. Demonic is not paying your debts. Demonic is calling bonified citizens outsiders when you know they were born here. Demonic is trying to demonise people who are actually working. Politicians need help!

@Cay…Please be very careful what you preach and wish for other people because it will back fire in your &$$. You all are a bunch of corrupt hypocrites. Everything that was laid out in the vote of no confidence is what you all ball about every single day..God no sleep nor slumber.
How mystical that Wheatley chose that fairy tale reference about fight in heaven and devil, using biblical terminology is as effective as how our slave master used that same bible to control their slaves, who’s brain have been harvested mentally and emotionally, they read their book bible saying god said ” slave obey your master” so by their presumption god ordain us to be slaves, so to Wheatley thinks the BVI people are blessed to follow that man there he said that lead us through one a the roughest time, the order in the council that wouldn’t affect the common man, but the politicians hold on to power or the treasury funds and traveling and partying and giving Vybz Kartel quarter million USD or bank of Asia $5 million USD.
Wheatley knows that our black people are very superstitious, so bible references would control the people, everytime them politicians talk, is order in the council on them mind, they don’t want their political power threatened, that council won’t do us the people a thing, it probably bring proper infrastructure and elderly care to international standards and not third world as we living now.
Christianity was in Africa centuries before it made it to the white man. The Ethiopian Bible is older than the KJV. Do your research star.
While his district chokes under the weight of the Sargassum seaweed and the health services fail across the territory this man wishes to speak of demonic instruments?

The VIP should know about demonic things. After all they were the ones who had the Senegal man engaged.
And leading prayer meeting before a drug deal meeting.
These are who the people in this place like, look up to and iconize.
The demons are the ones who voted against and abstained from what they know was the truth.
Hillarious – coming on the back of the MoE lecturing the house on the use of the word MuMu – then a Minister does this.
How come nothing demonic when the greedy bill was passed?
