No payout for workers laid off – Cable TV

Amid a number of job cuts in light of hurricanes Irma and Maria, BVI Cable TV said none of the workers who were laid off received payouts.

“They are only being temporarily terminated and we are anticipating that in our rebuilding process we will start bringing back on people. So there were no payouts,” said Marketing Manager for the cable company, Renaldo Richardson.

He did not disclose how many workers lost their jobs. “The specific number I’m not sure [about], but we already started to bring people back on,” Richardson told BVI News Online.

Cable TV had said its infrastructure sustained extensive damage during the two category 5 hurricanes that hit the territory within two weeks of each other.

The company added that it intends to rebuild its network and provide customers with an even better quality product and service. It did not give a time-line.
