Nothing to hide! Premier calls for Commission of Inquiry to broadcast live

Premier Fahie

Premier Andrew Fahie has requested that the hearings of the upcoming Commission of Inquiry be broadcasted live on all media platforms to allow for a full transparent investigation into the allegations made against his government.

The Premier made the comments in a live media broadcast on Tuesday — his second statement on the matter since Governor Augustus Jaspert made the announcement on Monday.

He said the statements made by the Governor was damaging the BVI’s reputation in the international arena and called for live broadcasts as a means to shed light on the investigations to hopefully restore the territory’s good reputation.

“Given the international interest in — and the international implications of – this Commission of Inquiry, I have today written the Governor requesting that the Commission’s hearings should be open to the public and should be broadcast live through the various media channels, including live internet streaming,” Fahie stated.

He added: “It is common practice in many jurisdictions for hearings in Commissions of Inquiry to be broadcast live. This aids the public in having accurate information and in seeing that the Inquiry is conducted in a transparent manner with no secrets or hidden agendas.”

Legislation allows for live broadcasting

The leader of government business further pointed to the Constitutional powers that legally permits the broadcasting of hearings from the Commission of Inquiry.

“Section 2 of the Commissions of Inquiry Act 1880 as amended provides that unless there is any contrary direction, inquiries should be public. Section 9 of the Act provides for the Commissioner to make rules for the conduct and management of the Inquiry. So, if there is any doubt about live broadcasts, Section 9 should clear this up,” he explained.

The Fahie’s VIP administration has been under heavy pressure following numerous allegations of corruption, lack of transparency and misuse of power since taking office in early last year.

Of course there is a reason for the COI to be live streamed. If life streamed then Foy and his cabinet can stay one step ahead, burying evidence and intimidating witnesses as may be necessary. They can then work out l**s in real time to any and all allegations that come up.

He’s elected to call some of the shots only. Now the law which he swore to uphold is about to find out if he And his henchmen have been doing so legally. If all is correct, no problem. If not someone’s going to drop the soap.

I am also quite impressed with my Premier, let the world know what the colonizers are up to, trying to victimize black nations in the 21st-century! Who is more corrupt than their nation? Let’s put them under a microscope!

SO you can further victimise the persons who might actually be bold enough to testify and tell the truth about your corrupt and inept behaviour?

How come the Foy doesn’t broadcast live the bid openings of contracts or the negotiation of kickbacks. How about some live broadcast of the back room deals. How about broadcasting the results of CSC consultancy results. This man is a f*** and a l***. He needs to learn when to shut up and STF down.

Not a thing will happen. This isn’t the first time there have been some kind of investigation and every single time despite what the evidence shows nobody gets locked up. The high school wall was investigated, despite over 60 split up contracts and other suspicious activity the DPP still can’t find something to stick because it’s not a crime to give out contracts to supporters. It’s not in our laws. BVI Airways despite being the worst deal ever could be summed up as the then Premier was stupid. Being stupid isn’t a crime so although it was a terrible deal it may not have been with criminal Intent although it is hard to believe that these educated advisors and lawyers and DRs in govt. would ignore all the red flags and go through with such a terrible deal. It’s normal for every government in the world to hire their supporters. I guarantee there won’t be one Republican hired by Joe Biden’s administration. Cronyism isn’t a crime so no matter how much you may hate CSC or Andrew it’s not a crime. It’s not a good habit in some cases where others maybe better qualified or available but the ruling govt has the power to pick their staff and board members. If these were crimes we wouldn’t have anybody to run for government.

You are not requesting for anything nor are you the shot caller. ABSOLUTELY NO WAY THE COI SHOULD BE TELEVISED AND THERE IS NO WAY ANY MEMBER OF YOUR CABINET OR YOURSELF SHOULD BE PRIVY TO ANYTHING THAT IS GOING ON BEHIND CLOSED DOORS OF THE COI.NOT EVEN THE PERSON THAT IS TAKING MINUTES SHOULD BE LOCAL. WHEN THE INVESTIGATION BY COI IS OVER, THEY WILL REPORT THEIR FINDINGS. Mr. Premier, I SEE YOU ARE STILL TRYING TO MESS WITH THE PEOPLES HEAD. WE THE PEOPLE IS NOT AS STUPID AS YOU THOUGHT WE WERE.

We dont broadcast court cases live but we are asking for the COI to be done live? Is this guy losing his marbles??? If your hands are clean whats the problem? Whatever their findings you will have your fair chance to legal counsel and refute where necessary. Sounds like someone is scared and grasping.

Now, I will use myself as an example. IF ANY INVESTIGATION AGENCY SAY THAT I AM UNDER INVESTIGATION, IF I HAVE NOTHING TO HIDE, I WOULD WELCOME THE INVESTIGATION TO CLEAR MY NAME. FOY BEHAVIOR MAKES ME WANT TO BELIEVE HE IS HIDING SOMETHING OR HE IS COVERING FOR SOMEONE OR SOMETHING. LET THE COI DO THEIR JOB, THERE IS NO REASON FOR THE INVESTIGATION TO BE PLAYED OUT ON LIVE STREAM IN FRONT OF THE PUBLIC. WHEN THE INVESTIGATION IS COMPLETE THE PUBLIC WILL BE AWARE OF THE FINDINGS.WHEN THE PREMIER IS MAKING BEHIND CLOSED DOORS DEALS DO HE LIVE STREAM TO THE PUBLIC?

Broadcast live so everyone that is under investigation have a chance to destroy evidence. SEE, I THINK EVERYONES HEAD IS IN SPIN CYCLE MODE AND THEY ARE TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT EXACTLY AND HOW FAR BACK THE INVESTIGATION IS GOING.

The double standards of our Leader are now sickening. So the hostess of Cutting Deeper was fired from her job for speaking against this same Premier and his government. He bashes the Governor and the UK weekly, every chance he gets but he doesn’t want to get fired??? He didn’t expect the UK to get fed up of him and CSC shyte?

I as a local am fed up of hearing them. Let the COI begin and the chips fall where they may.

Confiscation orders to be expected .

  18. No way says:

Up don’t think the people of the bvi realize that this is not just an attack on the government …. this is an attack on the bvi.

This is an orchestrated plot by the uk to tarnish not the integrity of the government only but to also tarnish the integrity of the bvi and paint itas corrupt to the world.

This will then create an easier path to attempt to come and take control of the bvi under the guise that the native people can’t government them self so they the uk have to bring in their own people to rule,

This is modern they slavery in disguise… Don’t be fooled people of the bvi.

There is no way this commission of inquiry can be unbiased because the Uk already has their agenda to come in and rule like the olden days.

Trust me this is no investigation to help the bvi and its people… this is a scheme to come in and take control of the bvi without the use of whips and chains and many people are falling for it because they feel its aimed at the government. NOPE.

THIS IS AN ATTACK ON THE BVI. AN ATTACK ON THE VERY THING WE FOUGHT SO HARD FOR MANY YEARS AGO, SELF GOVERNANCE…. THE ABILITY OF OUR PEOPLE TO MAKE OUR OWN DECISIONS AND CARVE OUT OUR PATH FORWARD.

They maybe can fool some people but not every one is fooled by the charade that they are trying to bring down upon us but I know myself and many other see their plan and are willing to march in the streets against it.

We as a people have not come this far to be put into modern day slavery, Never again!

Why all this wiggling, broadcasting investigation and accused have to have a lawyer inside inquiry? that isn’t happening in any investigation when it is conducted. When a person has nothing to hide he/she will say that they welcome the investigation and want the wrong-doers prosecuted. And the joke calling it slavery the Brown Bomber is playing us all for fools doing whatever he is pleased without any accountability so he wants to be the Slave master.

Do you procast your investigations live? Do you even provide reports for public scrutiny? Where were these legislations allowing to broadcast investigations before? Only now you know they exist? You should just keep your focus on trying to do your job and let the Governor do his! So please take a seat!
