A man has been confirmed dead following a boating accident on the western end of Tortola early Thursday morning, April 25.

Information Officer in the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force Diane Drayton said the casualty happened at Frenchman’s Cay Harbour in Soper’s Hole.

Police are yet to disclose the identity of the deceased.

Rescue Coordinator of the Virgin Islands Search And Rescue, Phil Aspinall, told BVI News that the incident was reported to his team but the matter was dealt with by the police.

“We got a call about 1:15 in the morning for an overturned dingy and unknown number of persons in the water. Police were on the scene immediately so we didn’t respond,” Aspinall said.

Investigations are ongoing.

Like it or not, all opinions are protected, including yours.

Turn the BVI into an inheritance grave yard, and trying to shut up individual opinions at the same time is not a tenet of democracy.

Life is a cruel thing… My thoughts go out to his family and everyone who was lucky enough to have had him in their life. He was a friend and will be missed.

In what possible way do you think your comment is appropriate at this time? In what way do you think that comment moves us forward in a positive way as a community? I wish you had the love for your fellow man and woman that Branson had instead of this misplaced toxicity. What sort of nonsense does “bad truth” even mean, sounds like you need to stop watching Dr Phil and start reading some books and educate yourself. Suggest you start with Dr ML King…

So sorry to hear of this accident and Branson’s passing 🙁 . My friends and I met Branson about 10 years ago – He was our captain for a day trip around the BVI’s. As we still all remember him from one day of meeting so long ago, he definitely made a great impression on all of us. He even came over to St Thomas years later when two people from our group got married to wish them well. Very kind and gentle soul, Rest In Peace
