Online condolence book being created to honour late legislator RT O’Neal

Ralph T O’Neal

Plans are well underway to create an online condolence book for the late Honorable former Premier, Ralph T O’Neal.

A media release from the Office of the Premier said the book will be a tribute to O’Neal’s ‘life, legacy and contributions’ to the territory.

“People are desirous of sharing their stories, and the online book of condolence will provide an avenue to do so. The online book of condolence will serve as a historical document as people will be able to tell the story of Honourable O’Neal from many perspectives, “Director of Communications Arliene Penn explained.

According to the release, there has been an “outpouring of requests from many persons and organisations locally, regionally and internationally who wish to share tributes,” considering that the late legislator touched many lives during his tenure in public office.

The book is expected to be officially launched on December 9 via the government’s official website.

To share tributes, persons can email the government via [email protected] or telephone number 284-468-2152 for any additional questions about the aforementioned.

More about RT O’Neal

O’Neal is recognised as the longest-serving an elected official in the territory. His political service has not only earned him the award of Order of the British Empire — which is more commonly known as OBE — but has also earned him ‘Member Emeritus’ status in the Virgin Islands House of Assembly.

He is expected to be given a state funeral on December 11 at the Multipurpose Sports Complex. However, his body will lie in state at the House of Assembly on December 9 and 10.

Viewing commences from 10:30 am and will end at 4:00 pm on the said days.
