Traffic in sections of Road Town has been slightly diverted because of a freak accident in the capital.

A shipping container that was being hauled by a semi-truck has mostly fallen off; creating an impasse for other motorists traversing the one-way thoroughfare.

The incident happened some minutes before 4 pm on De Castro Street near Bobby’s Supermarket. It is not immediately clear how the accident came to happen.

The police had not arrived on the scene up to publication time.

Keep the 40 ft. containers in the Port Purcell and nearby Pasea area until all the dilapidated paved roads on Tortola are repaired by the ‘unity’ government. Let the 20 ft. containers roam around Tortola for now.

  6. Madea says:

Its the size and weight of these lorries and the trucks that keep the roads with potholes. The trucking business should be charged more to help pay for the upkeep and repairs to the roads.
