Paediatrician Dr Natasha Frett joins Allied Health Council

The Ministry of Health and Social Development has appointed Dr Natasha Frett to the Allied Health Professionals Council for a three-year term.

The Ministry said her appointment as a member (medical practitioner) will run from September 15, 2025, to September 14, 2028.

According to an official press release, Dr Frett is a paediatrician and healthcare leader with more than 10 years of service in the Virgin Islands. She currently serves as Director of Primary Health Care at the BVI Health Services Authority (BVIHSA) while continuing her work as a practising paediatrician.

Her professional background includes working as a Medical Officer with the Child Abuse Investigative Team, where she supports child-protection initiatives, and founding Tiny Champs, an organisation that provides support for parents whose infants are admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. She has also served as a Medical Consultant at Eureka Medical and has been a Medical Specialist at the BVIHSA since 2014.

Dr Frett holds a Doctorate of Medicine in Paediatrics and an MBBS from The University of the West Indies, Mona. She also earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Barry University and an Associate of Science in Biology from H Lavity Stoutt Community College.

Health Minister Vincent Wheatley welcomed Dr Frett’s appointment, stating, “Dr Frett has demonstrated outstanding commitment to child health, primary care and community wellness in the Virgin Islands.”

He added, “Her clinical expertise and leadership will be invaluable as the Allied Health Professionals Council continues to strengthen professional standards and improve the quality of care across the allied health sector.”

The Allied Health Professionals Council is responsible for regulating allied health practitioners and ensuring strong professional standards, ethics and public protection across the territory’s healthcare system.
