The British Virgin Islands is set to benefit from additional donations from the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO).

PAHO is donating a garbage truck valued more than $200,000 to the Solid Waste Department.

Health Minister Ronnie Skelton said PAHO has further pledged to provide support to repair the Rosalind Penn Clinic in Long Look on Tortola.

“Essential equipment and supplies are also being procured for the elderly homes on both islands and support will be given to securing building material for clinics throughout the Territory,” Skelton said.

According to the minister, the assistance came as a result of discussions held with officials from PAHO.

PAHO was one of the first teams to assist in the immediate aftermath of the category five hurricanes last year.

And over the last few months, the health organisation has donated $1 million and a number of vehicles to assist with hurricane recovery.

A recent media release from the Ministry of Health said PAHO will be giving more support to the territory.
