Parillon pledges focus on skilled workers if elected
Aaron Parillon has pledged to prioritise creating opportunities for skilled workers and tradespeople — especially those in the Third Electoral District — if elected.
Speaking recently on the Talking Points radio programme, the Third District hopeful argued that too many young people are being overlooked because the education system and job market place too much emphasis on office-based careers.
Parillon, a former educator, said not every student is destined for an office job and the government should do more to support those with technical and vocational skills.
“Many of them are leaving schools, and some are dropouts from schools. It’s not to say that our young men and young women aren’t interested in working. But we have to meet them where their interest is,” he said. He argued that schools naturally reveal students’ strengths, with some excelling in academic professions while others are better suited to skilled trades.
“We have to create those platforms where every skill is being utilised,” Parillon said.
According to the NDP political hopeful, the Third District is already home to many tradespeople and small business operators, including welders, mechanics, fibreglass specialists, chefs, masons, carpenters, truck drivers, plumbers and electricians. He said the government should provide resources to help those individuals secure employment and grow businesses that could create “generational wealth.”
Beyond employment, Parillon said improving community infrastructure would also rank among his priorities if elected.
He pointed to the deteriorated state of the district’s dock, saying local fishermen have nowhere to safely moor their vessels, haul fish pots or clean their catch. He noted that many are now forced to travel to West End or Road Town, or rely on private docks to launch their boats.
Parillon also called for a renewed effort to clean up the community and eliminate stagnant water, noting that environmental health officials previously informed him that the Third District recorded the territory’s second-highest number of dengue fever cases.

He needs to be the first one to get some skills. Representation is a serious thing. We have to stop the popularity contest and elect competent people to lead our country. This is no joke. The BVI is slipping behind many countries. We need to start selecting the best minds with a track record of performance to hold these leadership positions.
This poor fella cant help himself or his mother how will he help we in da third?

The man Aaron up and down saying he got the third boss you and them crazy people around you in for a rude awakening
Sea cows bay people funny
almost 30 years of one voice in the district casting blame on everyone but himself. He is the reason we have no running water. Only good he sees young people for is cutting bush. Funny thing is, Wigglesworth came to my house last election bad talking Fraser to vote for OJ then told me if OJ doesnt win, he wants my support. Not Another Julian in this district, that name spoiled along with anyone associated with him. Parillon will get my familys vote once again and we will push for him to win.
Parillon youre spot on. These young men on the blocks smoking all day need someone who can provide opportunities for them to be much more than beggars to government officials. So many skilled men with years of experience in construction, carpentry, welding are dying or retiring and no one but expats are being utilized to take on these employments which have helped us locals create generational wealth.
i see your vision there Parillon. Great way of thinking.
We can all agree that the 3rd district is very unkept also. The only person that speaks about cleaning up the district is Parillon. The others only talk about picking up where Fraser left off as they themselves have no plans at all, just recycling old dead ideas.
