The British Virgin Islands today honoured the late great H Lavity Stoutt in its 24th annual wreath-laying ceremony and commemorative celebration.

Stoutt, the first and longest-serving Chief Minister of the BVI, is largely credited for the development of the BVI’s education system.

He founded the British Virgin Islands Community College, later renamed the H Lavity Stoutt Community College (HLSCC) in his honour.

This year marks the 29th anniversary of his passing. Present at today’s wreath-laying ceremony were past and present legislators, newly-minted governor Daniel Pruce, and other public officials.

BVI News was also present to capture the highlights.
