PHOTOS: Hundreds flock Road Town for Rise & Shine festivities
Hundreds of revellers thronged the streets of Road T
own before dawn on Tuesday as the Virgin Islands’ signature Rise & Shine Tramp attracted a massive turnout during the 72nd Emancipation Festival.
The event, traditionally held on August Monday, was staged on Tuesday for the first time after festival organisers revised the schedule to separate it from the August Monday Parade. The change followed months of public discussion and was intended to give patrons more time to enjoy both major events.
Long before sunrise, music trucks rolled through the capital as crowds danced behind them, filling the streets with music, coloured powder, foam and water. Many residents and visitors also lined the route to watch the procession, while vendors and police officers remained stationed along the route throughout the morning.
People had begun making their way to the starting point from as early as 3 am, with large numbers already gathering before the tramp got underway.
The revised schedule had prompted mixed reactions before the festival, with some questioning whether moving the event to Tuesday would affect participation. However, the turnout appeared to dispel those concerns.
The Rise & Shine Tramp remains one of the marquee events of the annual Emancipation Festival, drawing thousands of participants each year to celebrate Virgin Islands culture through music, dancing and community participation.

First, its good to see people, mostly young people enjoying themselves during the emancipation festivities, but looking thru those pictures I am left with questions and reservations.
Let me say outright that I believe in having a good time and no party pooper, however, I’m dissapointed to see so many people with barely there outfits some of whom are engaging in the simulation of sexual acts.
Makes me want to ask: Is this the way we now celebrate our emancipation from slavery by being scantailly dressed and similating vile sexual acts in public?
Sorry, something is not right with that picture for me. Maybe I have crossed over to old age and seeing things from that perspective, but regardless of my age, this behavior takes away from what our emancipation should really be about.
It’s like a public orgy out there with some people just humping and grinding in the public streets. This needs cleaning up in my view.

You are 100% correct. Its totally demonic. They are being directed by demonic forces. In the next few months, this place will be under attack. I just saw a video of a young lady dancing on top of her head on the top of a Wall. She was gyrating like someone possessed. What if she had slipped and fall? She would have been a crippled for the restvof her life. At Culturama in St. Kitts, a Tiktokker by the name of Lily fell off a Wall and was transported to the Hospital, unresponsive. I do hope everything turns out well for her. Young people need to pay more attention to their well-being instead of trying to impress the crowd gathered around them. Dance if you want to or have to, but there’s no need for dangerous theatrics.
Safe festival to everyone. Thank God, i’m not a part of these satanic rituals i see some people performing. Even when i was part of the World, i never participated in such rubbish but to each his own. The day is coming soon when each one of us has to give account for ourselves. God is not mocked and its better to be saved than lost forever.

At the tramp a lot of men was not grinding on the women because the women were more stinker this year. A lot of men including myself don’t like smelling funky women. Them fake eyelashes and weaves don’t make you clean. How you clean yourself properly with those nasty looking long nails.

It would appear that whilst the missionaries instilled the Christian horror of the nude in the Caribbean, they overlooked the horror of the lewd.
