Pickering accused of beating man who demanded pay

Kimbal Pickering has been called before the Magistrate’s Court on allegations that he has beaten a man who was demanding pay for services rendered.
He pleaded not guilty to common assault and criminal damage.
Allegations are that, on October 17 last year, the complainant in the matter met Pickering at his residence.
The complainant opted to do additional work for Pickering although Pickering already owed him money, the court heard.
After the complainant fulfilled his duties, Pickering reportedly refused to pay up.
An argument ensued and Pickering allegedly swung what the prosecution described as a ‘big stick’ at the complainant. The complainant ducked.
It is further alleged that Pickering grabbed the complainant and punched him on the right side of his head. The complainant struggled to escape.
He later threw a rock at Pickering to fend him off.
Pickering reportedly threw the rock back at the complainant and started to chase him.
The altercation ended some time later when Pickering’s girlfriend reportedly told him to ‘behave’.
The matter was reported to police.
During an interview with law enforcers, Pickering reportedly claimed: “The man come at me with a knife and I rushed him out of my yard.”
He was then charged.
In court, Magistrate Ayanna Baptiste DaBreo offered the accused $20,000 bail. He is scheduled to stand trial on July 11.
