PLM hiring key roles as election season heats up

The People’s Leadership Movement (PLM), the new political party launched by veteran politician Mark Vanterpool, is showing further signs that it intends to be a serious force in the next general election.
In a recent advertisement circulated on social media, the party announced that it is recruiting for several key positions, including a Director of Marketing and Communications, a Secretariat and Administration Manager, and an Administrative Assistant. Applications are being accepted until June 30.
The recruitment drive comes just days after Vanterpool officially opened the party’s new headquarters in Road Town, where he invited residents to visit, engage with the movement and learn more about its vision for the territory.
Of particular interest is the party’s search for a Director of Marketing and Communications — someone, the advertisement says, who must have experience in social media and digital marketing. The emphasis on social media reflects the current political landscape in the BVI, where political debates, campaign messaging and public criticism now unfold daily across Facebook, WhatsApp and other digital platforms.
A number of political hopefuls and movements have been using social media to mobilise support in recent months. One of the most notable examples is the “All 13 Must Go” platform, which has gained hundreds of followers and views through social media engagement.
The PLM advertisement also states that successful candidates can expect competitive compensation based on their qualifications and experience, signalling the party’s intention to attract skilled professionals as it continues to build its organisation ahead of the next election.
In the meantime, the PLM has not yet publicly announced any other candidates for the next general election, leaving political observers to speculate about who may eventually join Vanterpool’s team. Much of that speculation has centred on several high-profile supporters of the NDP who remain loyal to the longtime legislator and could potentially make the switch to the new movement.

There’s a noticeable disconnect right now between the grassroots energy that actually shifts an electorate and what the PLM is projecting. What we’re seeing feels less like a movement taking shape and more like a transactional marketplace model of politics with positions advertised, salaries offered, roles filled. That may build an organization, but it doesn’t build a base.
Movements grow from conviction, community, and momentum. What’s unfolding here looks less like mobilization and more like monetization and that’s not how you ignite a movement.
What’s next, a “markup” on your vote? At this rate, politics starting to feel like the “retail business”.
I only have my 1 district vote and 4 at large. I don’t know who I going vote for yet because a full slate is not out as yet. What I do know is I will never vote for MV nor LS ever again. Deception on any level by anyone is nothing to ignore. When people show you who they are, you best believe em. They can hire who they are to try to convince voters that they are the best, but he will always remain a snake. Once election is over the staff will dissolve and he will continue his agenda if he wins or not with himself as the maincourse
You don’t have to vote for MV or LS ever again. Vote for one of the other nice talking, do-nothing people so that you can complain for another four years. You see, you guys want to make emotional decisions and expect positive, practical solutions/outcomes. Life does not work like that! If more people honestly voted based on competence rather than other stupidness we would be better off. Look at the background of our current 13 elected officials and honestly, HONESTLY tell me how many of them would be hired as a Supervisor, Manger or Director of any major company? Until we start treating the management of the Territory as a company, where ACTION and EXECUTION matter, we will continue this downward spiral. So, yes, vote for the friend, peer, cousin, former teacher or whomever, just be prepared for the results/consequence of your action. Your Right, Your VOTE, but you don’t get to make up results!
