Police exploring multiple leads in Walters murder probe
Police say they are actively pursuing multiple lines of inquiry into the fatal shooting of 26-year-old K’Moi Walters as investigations continue into the British Virgin Islands’ first homicide of 2026.
The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) said detectives from its Major Incident team, supported by specialist units, have carried out extensive interviews and are continuing to follow several leads in an effort to identify those responsible for the killing.
Walters, of Huntums Ghut, sustained a gunshot wound during the early hours of Monday, July 6, and was transported to the Dr D Orlando Smith Hospital, where he later died from his injuries, police said. The killing marked the territory’s first recorded homicide of the year.
“The investigation remains active, and officers are committed to identifying those responsible and bringing them to justice,” the RVIPF stated.
The incident prompted Fifth District Representative Kye Rymer to condemn the killing as a “cruel and senseless act of violence” while urging members of the public to assist investigators.
Police extended condolences to Walters’ relatives and friends as the investigation continues. The RVIPF again appealed for public assistance, stressing that even seemingly minor information could prove valuable to investigators.
Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information that could assist the investigation is urged to contact the RVIPF Intelligence Unit at 368-9512 or provide information anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 800-8477 (TIPS).

Government cannot maintain roads, schools, hospital & clinics, water distribution & sewerage systems, electrical grid and distribution networks, ports and the list goes on and on. CCTV and the Shot Spotter system all require constant maintenance and upgrades which come at costs. We can get all the nice hard/softwares but keeping them up and running is another story.
Also, the bVI were not the only Caribbean country that spent funds on Kartel and other foreign artists to try and boost the entertainment tourism market. We wasted way more than that on all manner of other projects etc. the failed BVI Airways is one that comes to mind along with Brandywine Bay project, the greenhouses and there are other areas of massive amounts of waste/questionable fiscal spending.
The younger generations today are spoiled, entitled brats that living off of mom and dad hard work and are very immature to try r realities of the wider world they live in and the consequences. Social media has also accelerated the self-beliefs that they are invincible and can do/say whatever they want without repercussions. Why? Cause whenever they get in trouble mommy and daddy rally the troops to get them that golden ‘get out of jail free’ card. No sense of morality and that actions have consequences in real life. Please station a drone on a tall pole (on top BVIEC poles and plug and charge one time) in every district. Once reports of shots fired in the district. Send that drone up to monitor all traffic in the area.

What angers me is that we the regular public have all these great ideas but those who are getting paid CAN NEVER seem to come up with these simple solutions to these problems. Let’s see if they are monitoring the blogs to use this idea.
