Police investigating Tuesday-evening armed robbery on Tortola

Police are investigating a store robbery that happened minutes before 8 pm on Tuesday, March 24.

The establishment in question has been identified as E&B Superette, which is located in the Nanny Cay/Hannah’s Estate area of Tortola.

“Inquiries indicate that two armed gunmen entered the business and carried out a robbery. They then fled the scene in a green Kia Soul with no identification plates,” the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) said in a subsequent media release.

The RVIPF did not report any injuries associated with the robbery nor did they disclose what items the assailants made off with.

They, however, issued an appeal to anyone with “pertinent information” about the incident to contact the RVIPF at its three-digit access number, 311, or its Intelligence Unit at 284-368- 9339.

“All information will be treated with the strictest confidence,” police said.

This is the second reported robbery to have happened in the territory within the last four days. Just last Friday, armed gunmen robbed Banco Popular on Virgin Gorda.

The RVIPF said an unknown number of persons have already been arrested in relation to that bank robbery.
